don’t make me choose

we can out last the stars
or go to bed with the sun
tangled in limbs and sheets
bedtime stories
and breathy moans
you can tuck my hair behind my ear
or hold it tight
I don’t know if I have known you
a day
or a hundred years
because curled up next to you
the heat of your touch still burns my skin
while my soul
has grown into yours
like a comfortable wisteria
vining in and out of your crevices
fragrant and beautiful
I don’t know if I like your mouth better
when it is whispering in my ear
or nibbling my lips
your fingers tracing up my thigh
or intertwined in mine
but baby
of this I am sure
I do not fear the dark
only the darkness of the minutes
without you
